Melanie Roy Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges?

Depression, anxiety, grief, stress, family conflict, and other hardships can make peace and happiness feel out of reach. But it doesn’t have to be – together we can find a path forward.

Hello, my name is Melanie Roy, B.A(Psych)., MSW, RSW, a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist practising in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I know that no two journeys are alike, and that’s why I prioritise creating personalised and authentic treatment plans for my clients, built with them, not for them.

Who I Help:

Individual therapy is therapy that’s held one-on-one with me, providing a supportive environment to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I see both adults and teens (13+) in individual therapy.

Individual therapy helps by providing you with a safe space to explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and gain insight into personal challenges, leading to improved mental and emotional well-being. It empowers you to navigate life’s difficulties, build healthier relationships, and make positive changes.

I see individuals who experience:

  • Mood Disorders (e.g., Depression and Bipolar Disorder)
  • Personality Disorders (e.g., Borderline Personality Disorder)
  • Anxiety Disorders (e.g., General Anxiety, Phobias, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD))
  • Neurodivergence (e.g., Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD))
  • Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Interpersonal Conflicts
  • Grief and Loss
  • Self-Harm and Suicidal Ideation
  • Body Image and Eating Disorders
  • Addictions

Just like Individual Therapy for adults, therapy with children (ages 4–12) and teens provides a safe and supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Therapy is geared towards each child or teen’s developmental age and ability by providing a safe space to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviours and develop coping strategies through the use of talk, play, and art.

I see children and teens who experience:

  • Behavioural problems
  • Emotion regulation issues
  • Anxiety Disorders (e.g., General Anxiety, Phobias, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
  • Neurodivergence (e.g., Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD))
  • Mood Disorders (e.g., Depression)
  • Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Grief and Loss
  • Self-harm and Suicidal Ideation
  • Body Image and Eating Disorders

Relationship and family therapy is a form of therapy that helps partners and families improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationship. It provides a safe space to address issues like trust, intimacy, or recurring conflicts. Relationship and family therapy can foster healthier interactions, deeper understanding, and a stronger relationship foundation.

I see partners and families who’ve experienced:

  • Communication Issues
  • Parent-child Conflicts
  • Behavioural Problems
  • Blended Family Adjustments
  • Divorce or Separation
  • Grief and Loss
  • Trauma
  • Life Transitions
